Catered ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Catered meal planning application available at livecatered.com (with the app at app.livecatered.com). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our app and website. Please read it carefully.
We collect the following categories of information:
Account information: When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google.
Profile information: Information you choose to provide including your home address (used to find your nearest Kroger store), household size, dietary preferences and restrictions, and weekly grocery budget.
Usage data: Recipes you save, import, and cook. Meal plans you create. Grocery lists you generate. Ratings and reviews you submit. Your interactions with Jules AI chef including text and voice conversations.
Pantry and shopping data: Pantry items you add manually or via receipt scanning. Grocery purchases matched through Kroger integration. Receipt photos you upload for pantry population.
Voice data: If you use voice input to speak to Jules your voice is converted to text via your device's built-in speech recognition. We do not store raw audio recordings or create voiceprints. Text transcripts of Jules conversations may be stored to improve your experience.
Device information: Browser type and version, operating system, device type, IP address, and general location derived from IP address.
Payment information: We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVV. Stripe stores payment information and their privacy policy governs how they handle it.
Support communications: If you contact us through the in-app support system we collect your name, email, device information, and the content of your support request.
Taste profile data: If you have enabled taste profile learning we collect signals from your recipe interactions (saves, cooks, ratings, skips) to build a personalized preference profile. You can reset or disable this at any time in Settings.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising to third parties.
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers: We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate Catered. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may only use it to provide services to us.
Family sharing: If you use the family sharing feature your weekly meal plan calendar and optionally your saved recipe library are shared with family members you have explicitly invited. You control who has access and can revoke access at any time.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.
Business transfers: If Catered is acquired or merged with another company your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We retain your account information and usage data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days. AI usage logs are retained for 7 years for billing and dispute-resolution purposes, with personal identifiers removed where feasible. Application event logs are de-identified upon account deletion. Recipe ratings and reviews may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to maintain the integrity of our recommendation system. Support communications are retained for 2 years.

Catered uses artificial intelligence services to power features including Jules AI chef, social media recipe import, and receipt scanning. Specifically:
By using these features you consent to your input being processed by Anthropic. You can opt out by not using these features. Jules voice and microphone features can be individually disabled in Settings.
Catered accounts require users to be 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we delete it. Household settings record only a count of household members — no names, ages, or member details.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit using HTTPS, secure password hashing, and access controls limiting who can access user data.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
The Catered app integrates with third-party services including Kroger, Google Calendar, and social media platforms. These integrations are governed by the third parties' own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you connect to Catered.
If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and by posting a notice in the app. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of Catered after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
